So in September of 2005 I was going to RCC Norco for classes and I would usually take Hamner to get there from Limonite, rather than the freeway. At the time, I smoked cigarettes, so I believe I liked driving a little slower and taking my time to smoke until I got to wherever I was going.
Anyway, I had always noted this neat little old ranch off of Hamner, right before the bridge over the Santa Ana river, next to the freeway, right before you enter Norco. I wanted to go check it out but I wasn’t really sure what was going on with it and I certainly didn’t want to break into anywhere or trespass if people actually lived there and still came around with any frequency.
One day, though, I saw signs go up about the ranch being demolished, and I plotted to come check out the structures before they could be torn down. I was too late. Just a few days later, half of the site had already been bulldozed.
So, I figured I had no time to wait around and see what happened; I stopped by one day after classes to poke around and check the place out. I’m glad I did, I’ve always liked these photos, even if they were kind of rough/primitive in terms of technique.
